Grid Connection Specialist

About the role
As a Grid Connection Specialist you will be responsible for all project activities associated to the grid connection of the plants in during acquisition, development, design, construction and sale process. The Grid Specialist will work in project teams with close cooperation with the project team. Some your your responsibilities will be:
- Assess possible connection strategies and set a grid connection strategy.
- Submit and/or review of initial grid connection applications to relevant System Operators
- Lead communication with System Operators and with other Developers that are prat of the same grid connection, drafting, and negotiating of electrical connection stall sharing agreements and related design activities.
- Technical design reviews and decisions
- Electrical technical negotiations with turbine- and BOP contractors
- Work out high-level cost and performance-optimised grid solutions (with input from Grid and Control Engineer), including both internal grid, farm station and connection to external grid.
- CAPEX and OPEX calculations and assumptions during development phase
- Communications to System Operators, grid regulating authorities, manage grid connection agreement during realization phase
- Act as back office on what was agreed on during Development or Realization. Function like Key Account Manager towards System Operators and regulating authorities during construction phase
About you
You have a technical background in electrical engineering (preferable with specialization in high voltage grid), knowledge of the grid structures, legislations and grid development within the relevant markets, but also understanding and direct experience in on all other aspects of development of renewables energy projects, including permitting, deep knowledge of development strategy and overall vision on renewables energy business practices. Requiremetns for this position:
- MsC Electrical Engineering, preferred
- Swedish and English fluent written and spoken
Expert knowledge on:
- For the specific market; legislation applicable to grid connection, grid operation and grid development
- Grid design best practice
- Components used in high (including medium) voltage grid design (cost, usage, limitations)
- System Operator business and planning processes
- Tariff structures
In-depth knowledge on:
- Concepts for generation of electricity from wind, solar and Power to X.
- Static and dynamic electromagnetic effects
- Wind, solar power and Power to X particulars as regards electricity generation
- Concession application processes
Good understanding on
- Handling of consultants
- Engineering aspects making up a commercially attractive wind farm
- Permit processes for grid
- Scada connections
- Characteristics of generators, cables, transformers, switchgear
- Standard contracts for BoP on Åland.
- Calculation of active losses
