Head of Engineering

We are now looking for a strategic and forward-thinking Head of Engineering to lead and develop the technical function within our Romania country organization. This role is key in enabling OX2 to deliver optimized, future-ready renewable energy solutions that support Romania's national targets and contribute to the broader energy transition.
As Head of Engineering, you will lead the local engineering department, oversee workload distribution and resource planning, and ensure alignment with central engineering processes and tools. You will be at the forefront of technical and regulatory developments, ensuring that our market offering is both competitive and resilient in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.
Your Main Responsibilities
- Lead & Develop: Manage the local engineering team, allocate resources, and align ways of working with the central engineering function
- Strategic Market Insight: Monitor technical and regulatory trends to adapt our solutions and ensure long-term competitiveness in the Romanian renewable energy sector
- Drive Innovation: Lead technical development initiatives and partnerships that support integrated, market-relevant energy solutions
- Grid Connection involvement: take active involvement in dialogues with ANRE, TSO and DSOs, applying good understanding of key technical knowledge and regulatory requirements to technical / contractual / regulatory matters
- Technical Project Management: Step in as Technical PM when required to ensure project continuity and efficiency when TPM resources are constrained
- Development Support: Coordinate engineering resources to ensure projects under development meet milestones and objectives on schedule
- Project Optimization: Ensure all projects are guided by strong technical and economic principles throughout the value chain, from development to construction and operation
- Future Readiness: Define technical scopes and capabilities that meet future market demands, including bankability and risk mitigation aspects in partnership with Construction teams
Who We're Looking For
- Proven leadership experience within engineering and understanding of project development in the renewable energy sector
- Deep understanding of renewable energy systems, grid integration, and emerging energy technologies
- Knowledge of applicable standards for power plant equipment, including supporting structures and lifting machinery
- Experience in technical project management with ability to coordinate cross-functional teams
- Strong business acumen with the ability to link technical decisions to financial and strategic outcomes
- Experience working across multidisciplinary teams and international organizations
- Ability to collaborate effectively with external designers on civil, electrical, and mechanical aspects
- Excellent communication skills in English and Romanian
- A forward-looking, analytical mindset with a passion for innovation and sustainability
