EU Financing Senior Expert
Our EU Financing Senior Expert will lead the EU funding process for high-value renewable electricity projects. In this pivotal role, you will drive the full financing lifecycle from identifying funding opportunities and leading application development to overseeing grant management and implementation compliance. You play a critical role in securing and managing multi-million-euro funding streams that directly impact the success and scalability of OX2's renewable energy portfolio.
Key responsibilities:
Lead EU Funding Strategy
- Define and implement a strategic roadmap for accessing EU grants and financial instruments (e.g. Innovation Fund, CfD, Modernization Fund, ) aligned with corporate growth objectives. Monitor EU funding opportunities relevant to the organization’s strategic goals.
- Develop and maintain a funding acquisition strategy in line with EU programming periods and calls for proposals.
Maximize Financial Impact
- Integrate EU funding into broader financing structures, enhancing project bankability, reducing equity exposure, and supporting long-term revenue stability (e.g., PPAs, CfDs).
Drive Proposal Development
- Lead/ Oversee the preparation of competitive, high-quality applications for large-scale renewable energy projects. Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external consultants/ partners to deliver successful submissions.
Manage Grant Acquisition & Compliance & Risk Management
- Lead negotiations and contracting with EU institutions and governmental organizations and authorities. Ensure compliance with all regulatory, financial, and technical requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Coordinate partnership negotiations, and stakeholder engagement.
- Prepare and submit full proposals for EU grants and financial instruments (CfD, Modernization funds, PNRR, etc.).
- Coordinate all technical, administrative, and financial inputs for applications, including work plans, budgets, and impact assessments.
- Ensure adherence to EU regulations, including State Aid, public procurement, and environmental permitting requirements.
- Prepare and manage budgets related to EU Financing (over 5M EUR)
- Anticipate and mitigate risks related to funding delays, eligibility issues, or non-compliance.
Monitor Implementation & Reporting
- Steer the end-to-end funding lifecycle: from call identification and consortium building to negotiation and grant agreement signing
- Supervise project execution from a financing perspective, ensuring accurate reporting, budget control, milestone tracking, and risk mitigation for funded initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
- University degree in Energy, Economics, EU Affairs, Public Affairs, Environmental, Engineering, or related discipline; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading EU financing processes.
- Proven track record securing and managing large-scale EU grants (typically €5M–€50M+).
- Solid understanding of renewable electricity projects development, electricity market mechanisms.
- Strong financial, regulatory, and project management skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic, international environment.
- High attention to detail and strong process orientation.
- Bi-lingual fluency in English as well as Romanian.
